The Sunday side overcame a strong Dunchurch and Bilton team yesterday by 85 runs. Batting first Newington made 220-6. Stuart Walton hitting 18 fours and a six on his way to scoring 101 before retiring,he was well supported by Stuart Morgan with 38* and James Taylor(below) 22. Parsons,Gilkes and Ansar Aslam all getting out for 4,Brian Hancock smashing 16 in three balls and Buzzard clean bowled for 2 leaving Akram Aslam 3*. T Ewer the pick of DnB’s bowling with 2-24.
After Brian’s tea-or ‘Hancocks half hour’as it will now be called Morgan 8-1-21-3 and Harper 8-6-6-2 kept the runs down and took early wickets before some big hitting from Harnett 41 and Smith 19 boosted the score. Akram Aslam took 3-24 and Andy Parsons 1-17 to wrap the game up on a cold evening.
